Kingstowne Pilates’ and Senior Fall Prevention’s mission is to provide unique, quality Pilates and Balance & Mobility Training through private and semi-private classes; workshops and resources for adult women and men who seek to gain and maintain a full, active, healthy, and pain free quality of life. Pat’s clients appreciate her ability to weave her 30 years of expertise as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, Presenter, and Master Instructor with a fine eye for discerning an individual’s specific needs and creating a valuable program based on her clients' goals.

Balance & Mobility

Balance & Mobility

Balance is a key fundamental to aging successfully. Balance, good posture, and fluid movement enable us to enjoy a fuller life in our activities of daily living. Pat Karlsson Backe is a FallProof!™ Balance & Mobility Master Instructor. FallProof!™ was created by Dr. Deborah Rose of California State University, Fullerton’s Center for Successful Aging. FallProof! is a research based and scientifically validated, group based program that assesses an individual’s strengths and limitations and offers a physical re-training program to address and reduce fall risk.

Pilates

Pilates

Kingstowne Pilates is a boutique Pilates and Personal Training studio in Kingstowne, VA. Pat’s program combines classical and therapeutic Pilates on the Reformer, Tower, Mat, Low Chair, Spine Corrector and Jump Board. Starting from a point of breath work and body consciousness, clients with a desire to improve their fitness through a uniquely tailored Pilates' program will find their work with Pat extremely rewarding and beneficial.

Workshops and Specialty Classes

Workshops and Specialty Classes are offered to enhance and introduce clients and the community to wonderful new classes and concepts. Workshops are offered monthly and topics include:

  • Pilates for Lower Back Pain Relief
  • Pilates for Osteoporosis
  • Foam Roller for stress relief
  • Foam Roller for deep tissue massage
  • Juicing for Health
  • Pumpkins and Pilates – joint venture with Nalls Produce

Senior Fall Prevention

Senior Fall Prevention

Senior Fall Prevention was founded 10 years ago to address the growing need of older adults who were concerned with falling, the fear of falling and the risks associated with a falling. Pat combines her years of working with older adults as a FallProof!™ Master Instructor with her Polestar Pilates core focused expertise. Pat teaches one-on-one private Balance Training in her home studio. Pat also teaches FallProof! Balance & Mobility classes at the Kingstowne Center of Active Adults in Fairfax County, VA.
